Ear wax is a common problem and can sometimes cause symptoms such as blocked ears, reduced hearing, discomfort, ringing in the ears, itchiness or a feeling of pressure. In many cases, ear wax can be safely removed after a suitable assessment.

Trained ear wax removal service

Our ear wax removal service is provided by Fairlop Pharmacy staff who have completed specialist ear wax removal training with ClearerCare, a provider of CPD-accredited ear wax removal training for pharmacy teams.

The training covers ear anatomy, safe ear wax removal techniques, equipment use, clinical safety protocols and practical competency assessment. This helps ensure that our team can provide a careful, professional and patient-focused ear care service from the pharmacy.

What happens during your appointment?

During your appointment, a trained member of our team will assess your ears and discuss your symptoms. This allows us to check whether ear wax is present and whether removal is suitable.

If ear wax is found and it is appropriate to proceed, we can carry out ear wax removal during your appointment using suitable equipment and safe working procedures.

If we find that ear wax is not present, or if removal is not suitable, we will explain our findings and advise you on the next appropriate steps.

Prices

Our ear wax removal prices are as follows:

• Consultation only — £25
• One ear cleared — £50
• Two ears cleared — £75

If your consultation shows that there is no ear wax present, the £25 consultation fee is still payable.

If ear wax is found and removal is carried out, the consultation fee is not charged separately. You will only pay £50 to clear one ear or £75 to clear two ears.
